Hot Yoga Guidelines
Following these yoga industry standards will make for a much more enjoyable and rewarding yoga experience.
Studio door opens 30 minutes prior to and after class and locked while class is in-session. Unattended guests and children cannot remain in the studio lobby while class is in-session.
First time students to our studio, please arrive at least 20 minutes before class. After your first visit you can arrive around 10 minutes before class if you wish.
All new students much read and sign a waiver upon their first visit.
Students under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian’s signature upon their first visit.
At this time we do not offer childcare; very few studios do. Please leave your children at home. Yoga is a meditative practice and a haven where people leave their cares, worries and distractions behind.
Arrive for class on time, be ready and in place when class starts. Studio door may be locked 5 minutes prior to class depending on format. Late arrivals will not be allowed in class out of respect for other students.
Come well-hydrated. We recommend not eating at least 2 hours before class.
Please remove your shoes upon entering the studio lobby. We like to keep the floors clean for your bare feet.
Always sign-in at the front desk for every class. Some of our staff may not know you and we need to know who is in attendance.
For every class you must have a mat, a large (beach) towel to place atop your mat to prevent slipping, and enough water to drink during class. Mat and towel rental are $2/each as we launder and steam each towel after use and steam disinfect each mat after use.
Leave all belongings in the cubicles in the lobby or our dressing rooms or in your car. This includes all keys, cell phones and shoes. Turn off your cell phones or put them on vibrate.
No cell phones or keys are allowed in the yoga room. Heat and humidity are hard on electronics and keys can scratch our special yoga flooring.
Please refrain from talking while class is in-session and enter the yoga room quietly. While in the lobby please speak quietly if another class is in session.
The room is heated (around 105F with 40%+ humidity), you will be working hard, may feel dizzy and even nauseated. Don’t worry this is normal! If you feel overwhelmed, don’t leave the room – lie down on your mat and reconnect with your breath. It takes a few classes to get used to the heat. Don’t give up – it’s part of the process.
Respect the instructor, their dialogue and guidance. Checking your ego at the door is the best way to have a successful and safe practice.
Everyone is different and at various skill levels so focus on your own practice. This is about your yoga practice and not a competition with anyone else.
Don’t touch the thermostat.
Please refrain from wearing perfume or strongly scented products to class out of consideration for those that may have allergies or sensitivities.
When class is finished, place all studio towels and mats in the brown bins provided outside the studio door or in the changing rooms.
Items left behind are placed in the Lost and Found bin. Items are donated after 3 months.
